Arcade Fire - “Keep the Car Running” (Shrine Auditorium - 10/07/10)
In my opinion, Funeral is probably the best album of the last decade. This was the performance that does that album, this band, and their two great albums since then, justice. It’s hard to imagine a show more powerful and more exhilarating.
A note about the Shrine, however: The entire balcony was visibly bouncing up and down. Scary for those on top, but far, far worse for those underneath. As in, I would not see another show at the Shrine without being assured by a respected engineer that death was not imminent. I could not help picturing the headline: “Hipsters crushed at Arcade Fire show.”
