How can you address the problem of assholes head on? Dealing with bullying means dealing with teachers, which comes down to funding education, which we all know can be applied directly to forehead and still have no result. 

Coming from a deeply Christian town that grapples with homosexuality, I can imagine showing up to school today and what an effect it would have on me to see Coach Vanderhoek wearing a big purple shirt. In places like Holland, it’s important for kids to know that adults are on their side and that they’re on the lookout, and also for adults to know this is something they can support without being a queer or a liberal fascist. 

But for you in Massachusetts and me in LA, I agree this seems self-congratulatory. In some of the “It Gets Better” videos - namely, Google’s - the revelations include “I never thought I’d be living in California!”
